The mission statement of GEMS is to inspire and empower young girls to be innovative with their future in the fields of STEAM. GEMS covers the core values of the UIW Mission by providing various topics of education that the students would not normally be exposed to, supporting each other and developing teamwork skills, learning how to better the community with their knowledge, being creative, and developing self-efficacy. GEMS is unique because it targets girls from under-resourced communities and allows low-income areas of San Antonio to grow their knowledge in STEAM.
