Grant Opportunities

Grants and funding opportunities for teachers can significantly enhance their ability to improve classroom experiences, pursue professional development, and contribute to their educational communities

STEM Research Grants support middle and high school teachers engaging their students in authentic science research.

Teachers can apply for up to $5,000 to purchase specialized equipment, or for $1,000 in pre-selected STEM kits, including Arduino starter kits, soil test kits, and PocketLab sensors. Priority consideration is given to schools who support low income students or those underrepresented in STEM fields. Full-time educators employed in the United States can sign up here to be notified when the application opens.

The Alamo AFCEA Scholarships and Grants program oversees the Alamo AFCEA Education Foundation (AAEF), a certified 501(c)3 Chapter-affiliated organization. AAEF is dedicated to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines at all academic levels. The foundation aims to spark and nurture interest in STEM by providing resources to educators, institutions, and activities within the broader Chapter Regions. Our focus is on creating opportunities for individuals who may not have initially considered a path in STEM academics and careers.

DiscoverE’s grant opportunities are designed to support volunteer and educator efforts to inspire the next generation of innovators through hands-on exploration of engineering. Grants range from $250 to $1,000.

  • Engineers Week Outreach Grants support activities and events that focus on underserved K-12 students and feature hands-on engineering experiences.

  •  Bell Girl Day Grants support events to showcase the fascinating world of engineering to K-12 girls and all students of marginalized gender.

Classroom Resources

Keeping students engaged and inspired can be challenging, but we've gathered some fantastic resources that can add a fresh spark to your curriculum and energize your classroom.

Back to School Bundles: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Resource Kits for Your Classroom (Educators)

NOAA provides curated resource kits for popular topics that are tailored to different grade levels. Educators and learners everywhere can use these kits in (or out!) of the classroom.

Data Resources From My NASA Data (Grades 3-12)

My NASA Data Literacy Cubes guide students’ exploration of graphs, data tables, and mapped images of NASA Earth science data. In addition, the My NASA Data Earth System Data Explorer can be used to download data for specific locations or generate customized maps and graphs.

Are you interested in enhancing your Earth and space science lessons with STEM experts? Connect your students with the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES-R Series) weather satellite program during a Virtual Visit.

Through the magic of virtual learning, participants can interact with experts from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 30- to 45-minute-long live programs to learn more about the GOES-R Series, the Western Hemisphere’s most sophisticated weather-observing and environmental monitoring system, and its benefits to daily life.
